10.00-14.00

Monday 23th. Guided Tour of the ICP-CSIC. Visit to the X-ray difraction, Atomic force microscopy, Support Unit Lab, etc..

-Introductory Presentation: ICP, ChemBio group

-ICP visit

-Material distribution, explanation of the laboratory 309,

-First experiment: uses and applications of liquid nitrogen

Tuesday 24th, (Metal catalysis) Synthesis of Catalytic Materials n

-Brief explanation of what nanobiohybrids are, different types, examples (emulsion/solid, etc.)-Synthesis protocol, calculation of quantities, and preparation of solutions. The synthesis of Ni biohybrid material.
- Finish synthesis, washing usinf a ultraspeed centrifuge, and drying in an oven (another sample lyophilized form)
- Presentation about different images of structural analysis of materials using Scan Electronic Microscopy (SEM) (Samples prepared by the students will be check in the SEM on Thursday).

Wednesday 25th. (Biocatalysis) Enzymatic processes and protein identification.

-Lactose hydrolysis assay: colorimetric test: Enzymatic (galactosidase) process to produce Milk without lactose.

-Enzymatic hydrolysis of Galactosidase with artificial subtrate

-Purification and analysis of protein content by SDS electrophoresis assay and blue staining (see results next day).
-Explanation of the use of formate dehydrogenase to remove CO₂

Thursday 26th. Chemical catalytic reaction and analytic tecniques

-Characterization of lyophilized and dried Ni hybrid materia by SEM microscope.
-Application in decontamination: degradation of p-aminophenol (a precursor of paracetamol) using metal hybrids
-Structural analysis of molecules: liquid chromatography (HPLC), UV, and thin-layer chromatography (TLC)
